After filing with the Interior Department proof of five years’ residence, improvement, and cultivation on a reclamation homestead, the homesteader may transfer the claim to someone else. The new owner, after proving the land was reclaimed and paying required charges, can get U.S. ownership. All transfers must follow the Reclamation Act’s limits and rules.
