Title 43 › Chapter CHAPTER 12— - RECLAMATION AND IRRIGATION OF LANDS BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER XVII— - LEGISLATION APPLICABLE TO PARTICULAR PROJECTS GENERALLY › § 597a
The United States and future operators of the Riverton reclamation project, Wyoming, are given the right to use tribal and allotted lands on the Wind River (Shoshone) Reservation to build, site, operate, and flood land for the Bull Lake Dam and Reservoir. This covers the dam site, a flowage area, and other rights needed to hold approximately 155,000 acre-feet of water, including a ten-foot freeboard. As payment for the use of tribal lands, $6,500 must be deposited in the U.S. Treasury for the credit of the Shoshone and Arapaho Indians of the Wind River Reservation under section 155 of title 25. That sum will come from money set aside to build the dam and will earn interest at 4 percent per year.
