Title 43 › Chapter CHAPTER 20— - RESERVATIONS AND GRANTS TO STATES FOR PUBLIC PURPOSES › § 871
Section 870 does not change a State’s rights under other land grants, except for grants that set aside numbered sections for supporting public schools. It also does not apply to replacement land choices or swaps (called indemnity or lieu selections) or to a State’s right after January 25, 1927, to pick replacement land for numbered school sections lost to the State, and all older laws about those grants and replacements stay in force.
