Title 43 › Chapter CHAPTER 21— - GRANTS IN AID OF RAILROADS AND WAGON ROADS › § 893
People who honestly settled and made lasting improvements on any odd-numbered section of land set aside for a railroad, with the railroad’s permission and expecting to buy it, and whose land is later returned to the public and who cannot get it under homestead law, may, within three months after that return, buy up to 160 acres in legal subdivisions at $2.50 per acre under rules set by the Secretary of the Interior and receive a land patent.
