Title 43 › Chapter CHAPTER 22— - RIGHTS-OF-WAY AND OTHER EASEMENTS IN PUBLIC LANDS › § 937
Railroad companies that want the benefits under sections 934 to 939 must file a profile of each 20-mile section of their road with the land office officer chosen by the Secretary of the Interior. If the section is on surveyed land, the profile must be filed within 12 months after the section is located. If the land is not yet surveyed, it must be filed within 12 months after the United States surveys it. If the Secretary approves the profile, it will be recorded on the land office maps and the lands crossed will be handled subject to that right of way. If any such section is not finished within five years after it was located, the rights for that uncompleted section are lost.
