Title 44 › Chapter CHAPTER 36— - MANAGEMENT AND PROMOTION OF ELECTRONIC GOVERNMENT SERVICES › § 3610
Creates a FedRAMP Board to advise the Administrator on security rules and priorities for assessing cloud products and services. The Board will have no more than 7 senior officials or experts. The Director appoints members with the Administrator’s input. Members come from the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the General Services Administration, or other agencies the Director picks. Members must have technical skills like cloud computing, cybersecurity, privacy, or risk management. The Board must share best practices to speed FedRAMP authorizations; set and update security rules consistent with NIST; monitor and review how agencies set and validate FedRAMP requirements, including reviews described in section 3613(b); promote consistency and transparency with cloud providers; and do other tasks the Director assigns with the Administrator’s OK. The Board may work with the Chief Information Officers Council to create a process, which may be posted on the website under section 3609(b), to prioritize and accept cloud services for FedRAMP authorization.
