Title 45 › Chapter CHAPTER 19— - ROCK ISLAND RAILROAD EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE › § 1014
An employee who gets a separation allowance under an employee protection agreement or a benefit schedule under section 1005 may, if the agreement allows it, have the Board pay reasonable training costs for a new career. To qualify, the employee must first use any federal education benefits and must start training within 2 years after leaving the Rock Island Railroad. The Board pays based on an application. No help is allowed after April 1, 1984. "Expenses" means actual costs for room, board, tuition, fees, or educational materials up to $3,000. "Qualified institution" means a school VA‑accredited under chapter 36 of title 38 or a state‑accredited school that has existed at least 2 years.
