Summary

When the Secretary or Administrator helps pay for, or takes responsibility for, an obligation under section 53721 or 53722, they get the rights that the borrower gave in the security agreement that backs that obligation. Even if other laws say different things about government property, the Secretary or Administrator may, at their choice, finish, rebuild, fix up, maintain, run, lease, or sell property obtained this way, or place a vessel in the National Defense Reserve Fleet. Any sale must use terms the Secretary or Administrator approves.
