Title 47 › Chapter CHAPTER 16— - BROADBAND ACCESS › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER I— - BROADBAND GRANTS FOR STATES, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, PUERTO RICO, AND TERRITORIES › § 1704
Create an online map that shows where the federal government paid for broadband projects. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) must build the map no later than 18 months after November 15, 2021, working with other federal agencies. The map must be the single, official place for federal broadband funding information and must be available on the FCC’s website. It must gather data from the FCC, NTIA, USDA, HHS, Treasury, HUD, the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences, and any other federal agency that provides such data, and must include funding under this Act; the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (Public Law 116–136); the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (Public Law 116–260); the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (Public Law 117–2); or any federal amounts or programs authorized after November 15, 2021. The map must list for each program the agency in charge, the program title, and the network type (wired, terrestrial fixed, wireless, mobile, or satellite). People must be able to search and filter projects by company name, project start/end or expected dates, number of locations served, and download/upload speeds. The map must include the Broadband Map’s service-availability data and be updated at least once every 180 days, with federal agencies reporting data regularly. The map does not change agencies’ missions, must avoid duplicating rules in section 903 of division FF of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (Public Law 116–260), and $10,000,000 is set aside to make it. Definitions: "broadband infrastructure" — permanent cables, wiring, fiber, or wireless that can provide internet and meets advanced telecom capability; "Commission" — the Federal Communications Commission; "Deployment Locations Map" — the online mapping tool described above.
