§1753 Adoption of consumer broadband labels

Title 47 › Chapter CHAPTER 16— - BROADBAND ACCESS › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER IV— - BROADBAND AFFORDABILITY › § 1753

Last updated Apr 6, 2026|Official source

Summary

The FCC must write rules by November 15, 2022 that require companies to show a broadband consumer label like the one in the FCC’s April 4, 2016 Public Notice (DA 16–357). The label must give consumers clear facts about broadband internet plans. The label must say if a price is an introductory rate and what the price will be after that period. The FCC will use the label price for its price and subscription data under section 60502(c). Before issuing the final rule, the FCC must hold public hearings to learn how people choose plans and whether required disclosures, including 47 C.F.R. §8.1, are available and useful.
