Summary

Keep the island election rules from the Amalienborg code of April 6, 1906, and the other local laws that were in force on January 17, 1917, in effect until Congress changes them, as long as they fit the islands’ changed sovereignty and do not conflict with this law or sections 1391 and 1394–1396. Local civil officials and the islands’ courts must apply those laws, and their court orders and judgments must be enforced. The colonial council may change or repeal those laws only with the President’s approval or under rules the President sets. The islands’ courts can hear any cases there in which the United States or any U.S. citizen is a party.
