Title 48 › Chapter CHAPTER 11— - ALIEN OWNERS OF LAND › § 1506
If a court finds that land was held against the rules in this chapter, it must condemn the land and order it sold by court order. After paying the suit’s costs, the sale money goes to the court clerk. The clerk must hold the money for one year from the payment date for the foreign owner, their heirs, or legal representatives. If it is not claimed within one year, the clerk must pay it into the Territory’s treasury for the available school fund. Before the final judgment, the defendant may tell the court and prove they followed the law — for example, by becoming a genuine resident of the United States, by declaring an intent to become a U.S. citizen, or by doing some other act the chapter allows to own land. If the court accepts that, the case is dismissed when the defendant pays the costs and a reasonable attorney fee set by the court.
