Only the Attorney General can file a case in U.S. district court to stop Amtrak or a rail carrier from breaking rules, blocking allowed activities, failing to do required duties, or threatening any of those things. An affected employee or their authorized representative may sue instead if the dispute involves a labor agreement. If Amtrak ends a route or train or cuts service, only the Attorney General can ask a court to review it. Cases may be filed where Amtrak or the carrier is located, unless another law forbids it.
