Gives simple meanings for words used in this chapter. Auction company is a person who takes another person’s motor vehicle to sell at auction. Dealer and distributor each sold at least 5 motor vehicles in the prior 12 months; a dealer sold to buyers for use, a distributor sold for resale. A leased motor vehicle is leased at least 4 months by a lessor who leased at least 5 vehicles in the prior 12 months. Odometer is the device or system that records distance driven (not a resettable trip meter). Repair/replace means fixing the odometer so it works. Title is the State’s ownership document. Transfer means changing ownership by sale, gift, or other means.
