Owners, managers, agents, or their assistants at freight companies that receive federal freight program money and agreed to be bound by these rules must give freight data and records when the Bureau’s Director or an authorized Bureau staff member asks. They must answer questions honestly and provide records they keep. This also covers refusing to give data or not replying to a written request. If they don’t comply, they can be fined up to $500. If they willfully give a false answer, the fine can be up to $10,000.
