Title 5 › Part PART I— - THE AGENCIES GENERALLY › Chapter CHAPTER 4— - INSPECTORS GENERAL › § 420
Every federal agency and each designated federal entity must put a clear, easy-to-find link on its website homepage to its Office of Inspector General (OIG) website. The OIG must post any final audit, inspection, or evaluation report on its site within 3 days after that report is given to the agency head. Posted reports must be reachable from the OIG homepage, include a short summary of the findings, and be in a form people can search, download, and print. The OIG homepage must also have a clear link for reporting fraud, waste, or abuse. People using that link do not have to give their names. The OIG must not reveal a reporter’s identity without their permission unless it becomes unavoidable during an investigation. The OIG still must follow any laws that forbid sharing certain information. The terms “designated Federal entity” and its “head” are defined in section 415(a) of this title.
