You keep your student-employee status when your agency temporarily sends you to another government or non-government hospital, clinic, or lab for extra training ordered by the agency head. While you are there, you can get your regular stipend and other benefits from the host for up to 60 days of detail or affiliation in each training year. The agency head decides what a "training year" is. If the temporary assignment is to another Federal institution, you are entitled to necessary travel expenses to and from that institution under the travel rules in subchapter I of chapter 57 of this title.
