A medical emergency is ended on the day one of these things happens: the recipient tells the Leave Bank Board in writing that the emergency is over; the Leave Bank Board, after giving written notice and a chance to respond orally or in writing, decides the emergency is over; or the recipient leaves federal service. The Leave Bank Board must follow Office of Personnel Management (OPM) guidelines and put in place procedures to stop a recipient from using or receiving transferred leave once the emergency ends. Sections 5551, 5552, and 6306 do not apply to annual leave moved under this program.
