Title 50 › Chapter CHAPTER 32— - CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL WARFARE PROGRAM › § 1525
If the owner or operator of a facility facing a routine or challenge inspection under the Chemical Weapons Convention asks, the Secretary of Defense can give technical help to make the facility comply. That help must be given through the Department of Defense’s On‑Site Inspection Agency. The Secretary can only give help if the Department of Defense will be repaid for its costs. The United States National Authority can make that payment from its funds, and the repayment is credited to the On‑Site Inspection Agency. Definitions: Chemical Weapons Convention — the treaty the United States ratified April 25, 1997, which entered into force April 29, 1997. Facility subject to a routine inspection — a declared facility under the Convention. Challenge inspection — an inspection under Article IX. United States National Authority — the U.S. body set up under the Convention.
