The President must pick the General Counsel for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and the Senate must approve that pick. The person in that job cannot also be the head lawyer for any other federal department, agency, or part of the government while serving. They are the office’s head lawyer and must carry out the legal duties the Director gives.
