Title 50 › Chapter CHAPTER 44— - NATIONAL SECURITY › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER I— - COORDINATION FOR NATIONAL SECURITY › § 3058
The Director of National Intelligence can set up one or more national intelligence centers to work on intelligence priorities, such as regional problems. The Director must give each center’s leader the authority and control needed to run the center and its staff. The Director must also make sure each center has enough people to do its job and, when useful, share information with other intelligence agencies. Under the Director’s direction, a center may be mainly responsible for three things: analyzing intelligence from many sources at home and abroad, recommending what intelligence to collect and study, and carrying out other tasks the Director assigns. The Director must regularly check that each center’s focus and staffing still fit the priorities. The Director can close any center and, when appropriate, include a separate line in the National Intelligence Program budget for each center.
