The Director of National Intelligence must tell congressional leaders and the leaders of certain committees whenever, working with the FBI Director and other relevant agency heads, they find credible information that a foreign power has, is, or will try to run a secret influence or active measures campaign about the nuclear deterrent or missile defense — including its modernization, use, policies, or force posture. "Appropriate congressional committees" means the congressional intelligence committees; the Senate and House Armed Services committees; and the Senate Foreign Relations and House Foreign Affairs committees. "Congressional leadership" means the Senate majority leader, the Senate minority leader, the Speaker of the House, and the House minority leader. Each notice must say what the United States did to expose or stop the attempt.
