Title 50 › Chapter CHAPTER 46— - CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY › § 3524
The Secretary of Defense must pick the Associate Director of the Central Intelligence Agency for Military Affairs, and the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency must agree. The person must be a commissioned officer in the Armed Forces who is a general or flag officer. The Secretary and the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence must make sure that the Associate Director can get help from Defense offices, agencies, and programs needed to do the job. The Associate Director will coordinate and oversee Defense support to the CIA, manage Defense personnel assigned to the CIA, and handle requests for CIA help to Defense units (including combatant commands). The Under Secretary must create and run policies to gather and share those requests.
