Anyone holding a lien (including for storage, repair, cleaning, or other reasons) on a service member’s property cannot foreclose or enforce it during the service member’s military service and for 90 days after unless a court orders it first. A court can pause or change the debt if military duties make paying it hard. Knowingly breaking this rule can bring fines under Title 18, up to one year in jail, or both.
