Title 50 › Chapter CHAPTER 52— - RESTITUTION FOR WORLD WAR II INTERNMENT OF JAPANESE-AMERICANS AND ALEUTS › § 4201
Acknowledge the wrong done to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents of Japanese ancestry who were evacuated, relocated, and interned during World War II, and apologize for it. Create a public education fund about the internment, pay reparations to those who were interned, and compensate Aleut residents of the Pribilof Islands and the Aleutian Islands west of Unimak Island for wartime hardships, lost personal and community property, and village lands on Attu that were not restored. The law also aims to help prevent similar civil-rights violations in the future and to make U.S. human-rights statements abroad more credible.
