Title 50 › Chapter CHAPTER 53— - TRADING WITH THE ENEMY › § 4330
A notice of claim must be filed before the government can return property under these laws. If the United States obtained the property before December 18, 1941, the notice had to be filed by August 9, 1948. If the United States obtained it on or after December 18, 1941, the notice had to be filed no later than one year from February 9, 1954, or within two years after the property vested in the United States, whichever is later. A lawsuit to get the property back had to be started by April 30, 1949, or within two years after the seizure or vesting in the Alien Property Custodian, whichever is later. Time when a claim or suit for return under those laws was already pending does not count toward that two-year period.
