Summary

The Secretary must order the Service’s top law‑enforcement official to do three things: make a list of the System units with the highest rates of violent crime, make recommendations for needed capital repairs and other steps to lower violent crime (including sexual assault), and publish that list and those recommendations in the Federal Register. Using that list and the recommendations, the Secretary must send money around the System, giving first priority to places with the highest rates of sexual assault. The money (up to $10,000,000 from the Violent Crime Reduction Trust Fund) can pay for things like better lighting, emergency phones to reach police or security, more security or law enforcement staff, or other projects to improve safety.
