The Secretary of Homeland Security must send Congress an ammunition report 180 days after January 17, 2014, and then every year starting with the President’s budget for fiscal year 2016 under section 1105(a) of title 31. The report must list, by ammunition type and by DHS component, the year‑end inventory and the amounts used and bought during the year; explain how those amounts meet each unit’s needs for certification, qualification, training, and operations; and describe DHS contracting practices and compare other contracting options by cost and availability. The report must be in a format that protects law enforcement safety.
