Summary

The Administrator can give grants to run the Emergency Management Assistance Compact that Congress approved. The money must be used to follow up on the 2004–2005 hurricane after-action recommendations; manage compact operations for member states and territories; keep coordinating with the Agency, other federal agencies, and state, local, and tribal governments and their national groups; and help governments and emergency providers credential responders and classify resources. The Administrator must consult with the Compact’s Administrator to coordinate responses to requests for help. Congress authorized $4,000,000 for each fiscal year 2018 through 2022 to carry out this work. The funds remain available until spent.
