A National Detector Dog Training Center is created to train dogs and handlers to protect U.S. farms and natural resources from foreign and invasive pests and diseases. It must work with federal agencies, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and with state, local, and private partners. The Center must care for the dogs (vet care, shelter, food), offer private adoption for retired or untrained dogs, and carry out other needed duties as determined by the Secretary of Agriculture, acting through the Administrator of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
