Defines key words used in the chapter. Agricultural land: land in one or more States used for farming, forestry, or timber, as the Secretary of Agriculture decides. Foreign government: any government other than the U.S. federal government or a State or local government. Foreign person: covers (A) individuals who are not U.S. citizens or nationals, not citizens of the Northern Mariana Islands or the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, or not lawfully admitted for permanent residence or paroled under the Immigration and Nationality Act; (B) entities formed under foreign law or based outside the States; (C) State‑formed entities substantially owned or controlled by such foreign individuals, entities, or governments as the Secretary decides; and (D) foreign governments. Person: any individual or legal entity. Secretary: Secretary of Agriculture. State: the several States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, or other U.S. territories or possessions.
