Congress wants farming to be run efficiently and to support healthy people, steady jobs, and the nation's prosperity and security. Congress also intends that agriculture get research help equal to what industry receives. State agricultural experiment stations must use the funds Congress gives them to carry out original research, tests, and studies that help keep U.S. farming strong and long-lasting. This work includes basic agricultural science and projects to improve rural homes, rural life, and how farming serves consumers. Stations should pay attention to each State’s different needs.
