§4202 Identifying effects of Federal programs on conversion of farmland to nonagricultural uses

Title 7 › Chapter CHAPTER 73— - FARMLAND PROTECTION POLICY › § 4202

Last updated Apr 6, 2026|Official source

Summary

Require the Department of Agriculture to work with other federal agencies to make simple tests for spotting when federal programs cause farmland to be turned into nonfarm uses. Other federal agencies must use those tests to measure how much farmland was converted, note harmful effects on keeping farmland, think about alternative actions to reduce harm, and, when possible, make federal programs fit with state, local, and private farmland-protection efforts. The Department of Agriculture may share information with states, local governments, people, groups, and other federal units to help restore, keep, and improve farmland.
