The division must help groups of farmers and their federations that market farm products together. That help covers things like processing, storage, manufacturing, warehousing, buying farm supplies together, credit, financing, insurance, and other cooperative work. It may collect, study, and share economic, statistical, and historical information about cooperatives here and abroad. It can do and publish studies on economic, legal, financial, social, and business issues of cooperatives. On request, it can review a cooperative’s accounts and business practices, report the results, and publish summaries with permission. It can advise groups that want to form a cooperative, study markets and crops, hire experts to analyze supply, demand, trade, and prices, teach cooperative principles, work with schools and marketing groups, and do other useful studies.
