Title 7 › Chapter CHAPTER 84— - NATIONAL NUTRITION MONITORING AND RELATED RESEARCH › § 5301
Create and run a coordinated national program to improve how the United States watches and studies nutrition and food quality. The program has seven goals: use federal and state money more wisely for nutrition monitoring; set up and quickly carry out a national nutrition monitoring and research effort that gives scientific information to protect and improve Americans’ nutrition and the quality of food; keep a continuous plan to track diets, nutrition trends, research needs, and policy effects; raise the quality of national nutrition and health data and build common measures, methods, and tools; make a central federal hub to coordinate federal activities; make ways to meet the information needs of governments, businesses, scientists, health workers, and the public; and support the research and development needed for all of this.
