Title 7 › Chapter CHAPTER 88— - RESEARCH › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL WEATHER INFORMATION SYSTEM › § 5855
Program funds each fiscal year must be split: 15–25% for cooperative work with the National Weather Service, 15–25% for NIFA (National Institute of Food and Agriculture) competitive grants, 25–35% divided equally among the States chosen that year, and the rest for the Agricultural Weather Office and NIFA to run the program. Funds may not be used to build facilities, and no State or agency can spend more than 30% on equipment. When sharing weather or climate information with producers, the role of private weather companies must be considered. The law authorizes $5,000,000 for each fiscal year 2008–2012 and $1,000,000 for each fiscal year 2014–2023.
