§6203 Issuance of orders

Summary

The Secretary must create and update national lime research, promotion, and consumer information orders that apply to handlers, producers, producer-handlers, and importers. Only one such order can be in effect at a time. Anyone who would be affected can ask for and submit a proposed order. Within 60 days of getting a request and proposal, the Secretary must publish a proposed order and allow public comment. After that, the Secretary must issue the final order no later than 150 days after the proposed order was published. The Secretary can amend orders later and must follow the same rules for amendments.
