Title 7 › Chapter CHAPTER 95— - RURAL REVITALIZATION THROUGH FORESTRY › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER II— - NATIONAL FOREST-DEPENDENT RURAL COMMUNITIES › § 6611
Congress wants to help rural towns near National Forest System land that depend on forest goods and services. It says these places are important to the country, but many have too few kinds of jobs—especially towns that rely mostly on timber or recreation. The Forest Service and the Department of Agriculture have skills and resources to help update local industries, create new non-forest businesses, and give technical help, training, and education where it is most needed. Its goals are to assist those communities, help them build more diverse economies, and improve their economic, social, and environmental health.
