Defines key words used in this part of the law. Action team is a rural natural resources and economic diversification action team set up by the Secretary under section 6613(b). Economically disadvantaged means having economic hardship because people lost jobs or income from forestry, wood products, or related businesses (for example, recreation and tourism) in a national forest. Rural community means either a town, similar local government, or a nonprofit that promotes broad economic development with no more than 10,000 people in a county where at least 15 percent of total primary and secondary labor and proprietor income comes from forestry, wood products, or forest-related industries and that is within or within 100 miles of a national forest; or a county that is not in a metropolitan area, where at least 15 percent of that income comes from those industries and that is within or within 100 miles of a national forest. Secretary means the Secretary of Agriculture.
