Title 7 › Chapter CHAPTER 95— - RURAL REVITALIZATION THROUGH FORESTRY › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER II— - NATIONAL FOREST-DEPENDENT RURAL COMMUNITIES › § 6615

Summary

The Secretary can use the Department of Agriculture and its agencies (like the National Institute of Food and Agriculture) to set up education programs. These programs help people, businesses, and local leaders in rural areas move from being economically disadvantaged to having more varied local economies. They include community economic planning, ways to change or grow businesses tied to National Forest System land, creating new non-forest businesses, and training in job, business, and basic literacy skills. As much as possible, the Secretary must use existing federal, state, and private education resources to run these programs.
