§7217 Transfer or change of interest in lands subject to contract

Title 7 › Chapter CHAPTER 100— - AGRICULTURAL MARKET TRANSITION › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER II— - PRODUCTION FLEXIBILITY CONTRACTS › § 7217

Last updated Apr 6, 2026|Official source

Summary

If an owner or producer transfers or changes who has an interest in land covered by a contract, the contract ends for that land unless the new person agrees to take on all the contract duties. The end happens on the day of the transfer or change. If the person who got the land or an owner asks, the Secretary may change the contract if those changes match the program’s goals, as the Secretary decides. If someone who should get a contract payment dies, becomes legally unable, or can’t receive the payment, the Secretary will pay it under rules the Secretary creates.
