Authorizes a way to set up and pay for a coordinated program of kiwifruit research, promotion, and consumer information. The program is paid by an assessment (a fee) and aims to strengthen the kiwifruit industry's position in U.S. and foreign markets and to treat U.S.‑grown and imported kiwifruit fairly. Congress found that many small growers raise kiwifruit, almost all U.S. production is in the State of California, kiwifruit move in interstate and foreign trade, imports have grown, keeping and growing markets is vital to growers and others in the business, a coordinated program is needed, and producers, handlers, and importers cannot pay for such a program on their own.
