Title 7 › Chapter CHAPTER 111— - BROWN TREE SNAKE CONTROL AND ERADICATION › § 8504

Last updated Apr 6, 2026|Official source

Summary

Within two years after October 30, 2004, the Secretaries of Agriculture and the Interior must create and operate a federally funded pre-departure quarantine system and make rules for it to stop the brown tree snake from leaving Guam or other U.S. places where it could become established. Federal officers may enforce state and territorial laws on transporting or possessing the snake. The Secretaries must work with other agencies and sign an agreement with the Government of Guam before starting there. The system cannot start until money is specifically appropriated. The law authorizes up to $3,000,000 to Agriculture and $1,000,000 to Interior for each fiscal year 2006–2010.
