Boating Ban on Potomac and Anacostia

From 8:00 a.m. on January 7, 2025, through 4:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025, the Coast Guard will prohibit entering or remaining in the security zone covering the Potomac River, Anacostia River, and adjacent waters (Zones 1–3) in Washington, DC, unless you have authorization from the Captain of the Port. To seek permission, call (410) 576-2525 or use VHF-FM channel 16 (156.8 MHz).

Who Can Stay, Who Must Leave

During the enforcement period, public vessels and vessels already at berth when the zone is implemented may remain in the zone. All vessels underway in the zone when it is implemented must depart the zone unless authorized by the Captain of the Port. Enforcement may be suspended early by a Broadcast Notice to Mariners.
