Summary
Pacific Gas & Electric wants to pause some water releases from the Haas-Kings Hydroelectric Project in early 2025 to fix a turbine valve. This affects water flow in parts of Fresno County but keeps river levels safe. The government will check the environmental impact and invites public comments until January 15, with a report due by February 28.

Temporary cut to supplemental river releases
From January 6 through May 31, 2025, Pacific Gas & Electric proposes to stop the 15 cubic feet per second (cfs) supplemental releases into Dinkey Creek so staff can dewater the Kings River tunnel and replace and test a turbine shut-off valve. The company says natural flows will remain in Dinkey Creek and it will keep at least 25 cfs in the North Fork Kings River during the work. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is seeking public comments through January 15, 2025 and plans to issue an Environmental Assessment by February 28, 2025.
Help for the public to participate
The Commission's Office of Public Participation (OPP) offers help to members of the public — including landowners, environmental justice communities, and Tribal members — to find information and file comments or interventions in Commission proceedings. You can contact OPP for assistance with filings and participation.
