Possible U.S. ban on specific ignition products
The Commission may issue a limited exclusion order and cease-and-desist orders that would bar certain capacitive discharge ignition systems, components, and products imported, sold for importation, or sold after importation by MOTORTECH GmbH and MOTORTECH Americas, LLC. The ALJ issued the Recommended Determination on remedy and bonding on January 28, 2025, and the Commission is seeking public comments by close of business on February 27, 2025.
Domestic producers could replace excluded products
If the Commission issues the recommended orders, the record will consider whether U.S. manufacturers make like or directly competitive articles that could replace the subject products and whether they have the capacity to replace volume within a commercially reasonable time. The Commission requested written public interest submissions (no more than 5 pages) by February 27, 2025.
