SACC meetings rescheduled — public review dates

The EPA moved the virtual Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals (SACC) meetings on 1,3-butadiene to March 25, 2025 (preparatory meeting, 1:00–about 4:00 p.m. ET) and April 1–4, 2025 (peer review meeting, 10:00 a.m.–about 5:00 p.m. ET). These are public virtual meetings where the public is invited to listen and the SACC will consider public comments during its review.

Registration and comment deadlines you must meet

If you want to give oral comments at the preparatory meeting, you must register by noon (12 p.m. ET) on March 21, 2025; for oral comments at the peer review meeting register by noon on March 28, 2025. Written comments deadlines: submit written comments on the charge questions by March 21, 2025; submit written comments on the draft risk evaluation and preliminarily refined risk estimates by March 20, 2025; and submit written versions of oral comments by March 28, 2025.

EPA released preliminarily refined risk estimates

EPA announced a new supplement of preliminarily refined risk estimates for 1,3-butadiene released from facilities and revisions to the SACC charge questions; these documents are available in docket EPA-HQ-OPPT-2024-0425 on https://www.regulations.gov and on the SACC website at https://www.epa.gov/tsca-peer-review. The materials may be reviewed by the public in advance of and during the peer review meeting.

Timing rule for disability accommodations

If you need a disability accommodation to participate in a meeting, EPA asks that you submit the request at least ten business days before the relevant meeting so they have time to process it. Contact the Designated Federal Official as listed in the notice to request special accommodations.
