Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Patwin Tribes eligible for repatriation

The University of California, Davis has determined that human remains of at least three individuals and 82 associated funerary object lots are culturally affiliated with the Patwin Tribes (Cachil DeHe Band of Wintun Indians of the Colusa Indian Community of the Colusa Rancheria; Kletsel Dehe Wintun Nation of the Cortina Rancheria; and Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation). These remains and objects may be repatriated to the identified tribes on or after April 18, 2025.

Who may request repatriation and how

Written requests for repatriation may be submitted by any one or more of the Indian Tribes named in the notice, or by any lineal descendant or tribe/organization not named who shows by a preponderance of the evidence that they are a lineal descendant or culturally affiliated. If competing requests are received, UC Davis must determine the most appropriate requestor prior to repatriation; joint repatriation requests are treated as a single request.

Some funerary object lots missing or discarded

Of the 82 lots of associated funerary objects, 78 lots are present and 4 lots are currently missing or discarded (one lot of groundstone, one lot of shell, one lot of unidentified missing material, and one lot of unidentified discarded material). This means up to four specific lots will not be available for repatriation.
