PREM annual RPPR reporting burden
If you run a PREM (NSF Partnerships for Research and Education in Materials), you must submit annual reports through the Research Performance Progress Reporting (RPPR) module in Research.gov covering seven categories: research, education, outreach, partnerships, pathway for broadening participation, management, and budget. NSF estimates the reporting burden at 70 hours per PREM, for 38 PREMs and a total of 2,660 hours; final reports with similar metrics must also be filed through RPPR and an external technical assistance contractor.
Reports determine continued PREM funding
NSF will use the required annual and final reports and the submitted management and performance indicators as the basis for performance review and to determine the level of continued funding for each PREM. The required indicators may include personnel and student characteristics, sources of financial and in‑kind support, expenditures, research and education activities, patents/licenses, publications, and degrees granted.
