AFT Pilot Extended Through 2026
The Farm Service Agency extended the Application Fast Track (AFT) pilot. The extension is effective December 30, 2025, and the pilot will run until December 31, 2026 or until a final rule is published, whichever happens first.
More Applicants Can Qualify
FSA is expanding AFT so an increased number of applicants can qualify for the streamlined process. The expansion is intended to allow more family farmers and ranchers to use the alternative underwriting pathway.
Faster Loan Decisions for Farmers
AFT has already resulted in about 23 percent of customers qualifying for the pilot and reduced processing time for those applications by approximately 8 calendar days. The faster processing applies to qualified direct Operating Loans and Farm Ownership Loans for family farmers and ranchers.
Alternative Underwriting Will Be Codified
The notice says certain sections of 7 CFR parts 761, 764, and 765 were waived for the AFT pilot and that those CFR sections will be amended to permanently codify the alternative underwriting process before December 31, 2026.
No Negative Loan Performance Effects
FSA reports that AFT has not impacted portfolio performance, loan repayment rates, or delinquency rates. The agency will continue to monitor loan performance while the pilot runs.
